Netherlands: 61.7 Million Passengers Flew To, From or Through Schiphol Airport in 2023

Throughout the entire of 2023, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol witnessed a total of 61.7 million passengers, marking an increase of 18 per cent from 2022 (52.5 million) and a decrease of 14 per cent from 2019 (71.7 million).

During the same year, 441,963 air transport movements were recorded to and from Schiphol. In addition, Eindhoven Airport reached its peak with 6.8 million passengers, while The Hague Airport in Rotterdam embraced 2.2 million visitors, media reports.

According to the data provided by Schiphol Airport, in 2023, nearly 61.7 million travellers were recorded, with 39.1 million flying directly to or from Schiphol, while 36 per cent opted for connecting flights at the airport.

There were also over 11 million unique transfer passengers, following international counting standards where each transfer passenger is tallied twice—once as an arriving traveller and once as a departing one.

At the same time, the air transport movements at the airport saw a total of 441,963, reflecting an 11 per cent increase from 2022 (397,646 aircraft movements) and an 11 per cent decrease from 2019 (496,826 aircraft movements). Among these movements, 425,994 were passenger flights, and 15,969 were cargo flights.
